Backpacks For The Homeless
It's important to remember that the Backpacks outreach isn't just about feeling good. The backpack you assemble and give away can actually mean the difference between life and death.

That may sound melodramatic, but it's true. In very cold and / or wet weather, it's very easy to die of hypothermia. That's why it's very important that you include in your pack both a tarp and a blanket. The tarp / blanket combo, can be a lifesaving device when combined to block out cold and wet weather. A desperate person sleeping in the elements can spread out the tarp, put the blanket in it and roll up in it. The heavy tarp acts as both a wind break and also insulation.

In hot weather it can serve the purpose of keeping the sun at bay, and the bottled water we provide is a source of hydration.
